Severe weather continues to pose the most immediate operational threat. On June 2, Khovar reported that mudslide warnings remain active for Khatlon Province through June 5 due to heavy rains. While the Dushanbe-Chanak highway reopened on June 2 after mudslide clearance, the Muminabad-Kulob corridor remains highly vulnerable to localized flooding. NGO staff should suspend non-essential travel during heavy precipitation. Regional geopolitical tensions require close monitoring. Following reported US-Iran military exchanges, a 60-day truce was announced, allowing commercial flights between Tehran and Dushanbe to resume on May 31. However, the Russian FSB continues to warn that ISIS-K is actively recruiting Central Asian migrants for regional terror networks. Additionally, the body of a Russian soldier was discovered near the 201st military base in Dushanbe on June 2, prompting a joint investigation. Domestic surveillance and religious enforcement remain strict. On May 26, regional media reported the arrest of 33 Tajik citizens in Saudi Arabia for attempting an unauthorized Hajj, highlighting the government's tight control over religious travel and practices. This enforcement pattern applies to ALL non-state-sanctioned religious expression, including Christian worship.
