On March 12, the European Parliament adopted a resolution calling for targeted sanctions against Georgian officials and the release of political prisoners. Following this, on March 13, 24 OSCE member states urged Georgia to implement the Moscow Mechanism report's recommendations regarding marked democratic backsliding. Domestically, police cleared the year-long protest encampment outside the Parliament building on March 12 and have instituted bag searches for pedestrians in the area. In a separate incident, a teacher was found dead with a gunshot wound in the Tbilisi suburb of Tabakhmela on March 13. Regionally, the geopolitical environment remains highly volatile as the US launched military strikes on Iran's Kharg Island on March 14. This ongoing conflict continues to push heavy transit flight traffic into Georgian airspace. Meanwhile, a massive landslide in Kursebi destroyed several homes and forced the evacuation of over 100 residents on March 12-13. The convergence of intense international diplomatic pressure, physical clearing of protest sites, and regional instability creates a highly volatile environment. For the Samgori-based school, the primary risks remain sudden localized unrest and administrative scrutiny. Staff should avoid the Parliament area due to heightened police presence and bag searches, while anticipating improved local commutes as the Varketili Metro station is scheduled to reopen on March 16.
