The security environment in Khatlon Province remains HIGH. This underscores the persistent militant and trafficking threats along the Afghan border. Additionally, a magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck Jurm, Afghanistan on April 18, producing tremors felt across Tajikistan, including Dushanbe. Regional instability from the US-Iran conflict continues to severely impact Central Asia. The US has officially initiated a naval blockade of Iran's southern ports, prompting Iran to threaten commercial shipping. Consequently, Russia evacuated 27 Tajik citizens working at the Bushehr nuclear plant. Domestically, a new ecological tax of 30 euros, including Christian worship. Furthermore, Russian border guards have begun inspecting the phones and laptops of Tajik migrants, signaling heightened regional surveillance.
