Tajikistan Intel: Afghan Border & NGO Zones

The security environment in Khatlon Province remains HIGH. Heavy rains are causing severe mudslide risks along the Muminabad-Kulob corridor, prompting a road caution advisory for NGO staff. Border tensions remain lethal; on April 17, Tajik border guards killed two Afghan drug smugglers during a nighttime clash in the Farkhor district, approximately 80 km from the Muminabad operating area. Regional spillover from the US-Iran conflict continues to impact logistics and security. Following the US naval blockade, Russia evacuated 632 people from Iran, including 27 Tajik citizens working at the Bushehr nuclear plant.
